Description
Recycled PE & PS sheet black sample
Recycled PE & PS sheet is made from a mix of Polyethylene (PE) and Polystyrene (PS). It is a light, hard board from which it is clearly visible that it has been recycled. This is visible in the coloured core made from recycled consumer plastics. The panel is both technically and constructively a good replacement for wood and concrete plywood. The material is lightweight, durable and moisture resistant, but has poor bonding properties. This is due to the Polyethylene part in the sheet. Furthermore, the sheet is fine to edit. These sheets are available in 3 different types. In addition to this mixed version, there is another with a PE top layer and one with a PS top layer. The polyethylene version is mainly suitable for construction and carpentry applications and the Polystyrene version for printing applications.
Applications Recycled PE & PS
As mentioned above, it is a good replacement for wood and concrete plywood. In addition, the sheets are suitable for e.g. screening and stable construction. Due to the polystyrene part in the plate, it is not suitable for long-term outdoor use. The sheet will last outside for a number of years, but will then slowly break down. After about 3 years the sheet will decrease in quality.
Stock
We have recycled PE & PS in our range in three different types. One with a mixed PE & PS top layer, one with a PE top layer and one with a PS top layer. The standard dimensions of all three plates are 2440 x 1220 x 18mm. If you need a different size, please contact us.
Processing
The processing of the material is approximately equal to wood and concrete plywood. The plates are easy to mill, bend, vacuum form, saw and drill. Due to the PE, the adhesion is poor. This means that the plates are not easy to glue or print.
Sustainability Recycled PE & PS
Because the majority of the plate is made from recycled material, this is a relatively sustainable solution. The recycled core provides the thickness and strength and then only a thin top layer is needed. This saves a lot compared to an equally thick sheet in solid PE or PS. Of course it is not as sustainable as bioplastic.
