Description
Recycled polyethylene sheet black
Recycled polyethylene is very similar in properties to standard polyethylene. It is a strong, wear-resistant sheet that is excellent for outdoor applications. This is because the sheets are UV protected. The recycled PE sheets do not have a protective film and because of its industrial background, it always has some scratches. One side of the sheet is more glossy and the other more matte. The application of the sheet is machine building and for hobbies. Furthermore, thesheets are easy to process, but difficult to glue because of the greasy surface.
Applications of Recycled polyethylene
As mentioned above, recycled polyethylene is used for machine building and by hobbyists. In addition, the sheets are also suitable for making thermoform parts. For example: cover caps, trays and chair parts. Because the sheets are so stiff and impact-resistant, they are also often used as a finishing sheet or protection sheet in interior applications. As an alternative to this sheet, we also have Bio-polyethylene. This product has the same properties as this sheet, but is biobased.
Stock
We have the recycled PE sheets in stock in three different thicknesses. Namely, 8mm, 10mm and 12mm. The standard size is 2000x1000mm for all three thicknesses. Black is the base colour of the sheets, but because of the recycled particles they contain coloured speckles. The colours of these speckles are different for each sheet, due to the recycled material. Do you want a custom sheet? Please contact us and we’ll see what we can do.
Processing of recycled Polyethylene
Recycled polyethylene is suitable for sawing, drilling, milling, welding and vacuum forming. Gluing and printing is a lot more difficult than with other plastics. Due to the greasy surface. The sheets can be attached to each other by means of welding or mechanical connections. Think of a pop rivet or bolt and nut.
Sustainability
Recycled polyethylene is a sustainable option because it contains recycled material. By using existing material, CO2 emissions are lower than with new polyethylene. These sheets can also be recycled again. The most sustainable variant of polyethylene that we offer is Bio-polyethylene. Would you like to know more about bioplastic in general?
