Description

Fibernyl sheets

Fibernyl is a bioplastic sheet partly made from elephant grass. Thanks to its natural fibres, the material has a distinctive natural appearance and texture while offering excellent performance for a wide range of applications. Fibernyl is bio-based and biodegradable, which means that it is made from organic materials and breaks down in nature.

Elephant grass is a highly sustainable crop that captures up to four times more CO₂ than trees during its growth. It requires no irrigation, pesticides or fertilisers and can be grown locally in the Netherlands, helping to reduce its environmental footprint.

Applications

Fibernyl offers mechanical properties comparable to foamed PVC, making it an excellent sustainable alternative for point-of-sale displays, festival and event signage, and a variety of interior applications. Its natural look, combined with its strength and ease of processing, makes it a versatile choice for both commercial and creative projects.

Sizes and Availability

Fibernyl sheets are available as standard in sizes of 1000x600mm until 2000x1200mm, with thicknesses ranging from 0.5mm to 4mm. The standard colours are Natural, White and Black, while custom colours, sizes and larger production runs are available on request – contact us.

Processing

Fibernyl is an easy-to-process bioplastic. Editing options include: lasering, punching, sawing, drilling, vacuum forming and printing, making it a particularly suitable material for the sign-making industry. For vacuum forming, a processing temperature of 70–100°C is recommended.

A Circular Material

Fibernyl is a circular product. Sustainably grown elephant grass is processed into a bio-based granulate, which is then used to manufacture the sheets. After use, the sheets can be collected and either recycled into new sheets or composted where appropriate. The recycled sheets can be reused and the compost can be used to nourish plants. This circular approach helps reduce waste and supports a more sustainable use of resources.
