Bio-polyethylene Sheets

Bio-polyethylene (Bio-PE) is a bio-based alternative to conventional polyethylene. Our Bio-PE sheets are made from Braskem BIO PE SGF4950, which is produced from sustainably grown sugarcane. The material offers the same properties as standard polyethylene, making it easy to process, highly impact resistant and suitable for a wide range of applications. Bio-PE has a smooth surface with a satin gloss.

Applications

Bio-PE is suitable for thermoformed products such as cover caps, trays and chair components. Thanks to its stiffness and impact resistance, Bio-PE is also widely used as finishing or protection sheets for interior applications. If you currently use conventional polyethylene, Bio-PE is an excellent bio-based alternative.

Sizes and Availability

Bio-PE sheets are individually available in White and Grey. Standard sheet sizes are 1000x600mm, 1200x600mm and 1230x1000mm, with thicknesses ranging from 2mm to 3mm. Other sizes and colours are available on request – contact us.

Processing

Bio-PE is easy to process and can be sawn, drilled, welded and vacuum formed. Due to its low surface energy, the material cannot be printed or glued. Sheets can be connected by welding or by using mechanical fasteners such as rivets, bolts and nuts.

Sustainability

The raw materials for Bio-PE are obtained from planted sugarcane. During cultivation, the sugarcane absorbs CO₂, and during the production of Bio-PE, the CO₂ emissions are lower than with standard PE, resulting in a lower carbon footprint than conventional PE.
